Made my day
Coming home today I stopped at the convenience store and I got a wheat penny in my change.
I checked it 'cause it actually felt heavy and had a deep copper color. I guess I'm just easily impressed. A penny from the 1940s! :D |

Re: Made my day
I did the same thing today when I went to the bank for some Jefferson dollars. I checked the coin counter machine as it spits out the coins it does not recognise(wheat pennies along with foreign coins). There was a wheat penny in the tray, so I grabbed it up. It's my first wheat, a 1940something tht has seen better days. Oh well, you have to start somewhere.
I also found a Jefferson penny replica out of plastic. At first I thought it was real, until I snapped it in two! Ha! Mike C. |

Yeah, sorry that was a typo. It was a regular plastic penny, but it didn't have "copy" on it.

hell it makes my day when I find a zinc penny! I found a regular old nickel today and was pretty pleased.

Re: Made my day
During the early 1960's I remember getting a decent 1908 Barber half in change!!
Silver dollars were readily available at the banks for a buck a pop....always 1921's or Peace type though. Oh, when money was money.... |
Re: Made my day
Every time I go to my bank to buy FRNs for physical, I ask for 10 or 12 rolls of halves. Evey single time, I hit something......found, for example, 2 90% and 4 40% ....plus a 1988 S proof in the last lot last week of 10 rolls...there's stilla lot out there getting turned in.
